Job Offerings

Paid Job Offerings for the 2017/18 Year:

 

Managing Editor

Manages the proofreaders and writers. Copy edits for AP Style and structure. Assists the Editor-in-Chief with duties such as elections, strategic planning and communication.

Head of Design

Manages graphics designers. Edits graphics with Photoshop and completes original content (photographic or artistic) as needed. Will assist with swag designs for PR and layout for Layout Editor.

Business Manager

Manages all finances of The Athenian. Responsible for writer compensation, staff compensation. Keeps track of The Athenian’s budget. Manages ad salespeople and distributions, ensuring the teams run smoothly.

Web Editor

Responsible for cwruathenian.com. Updates the website monthly or occasionally if exclusive content. Adjusts design when requested. Keeps website operating smoothly, including managing payments for hosting when needed.

Layout Editor

Responsible for layout of print magazine. Will be assisted by Head of Design in some layout projects. Helps with other projects such as ad pamphlet re-design.

Ad Managers

Sell ads to local businesses. Keeps up with them to obtain payments.

Social Media Manager

Responsible for regular Facebook and Twitter posts, social media contests, analytics and expanding into new social media fields.

Events Manager

With help from Head of Design, creates swag designs and orders for The Athenian. Organizes events (both internal and external) for bonding, PR presence, giveaways and more.

Distribution Managers (Northside and Southside)

Responsible for The Athenian distribution to their respective halves of campus with possible aid from volunteers from staff and contributors. Must follow tight deadlines for distribution and analyze pickup rates.

Proofreaders (x2)

Responsible for copy editing and fact checking all articles on a monthly basis. Must work under strict, tight deadlines. AP Style experience is a plus.

Contributors

Produce writing/graphics content for monthly print and online issues. We are always looking for more talented contributors.
